We are very excited to announce that Taunton Choral Society will be adorning our beautiful hall with this daytime concert of seasonal carols that you can either listen or join in with.
We will be serving hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages so you’ll feel cozy and ready to enjoy the festive week ahead with beautiful arrangements and carols.
ABOUT TAUNTON CHORAL SOCIETY
TCS began as a male voice choir in late Victorian times, eventually permitting women to join in the 1950s.TCS has been recognised as Taunton’s largest classical choir and although we lost some members during the pandemic when we could rehearse only on Zoom for the whole season, we are now back to full strength. We perform a wide range of works, in several languages and by many composers.
A highlight came in 2017 when we were invited to sing Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall in New York, never to be forgotten. We perform The Messiah every two years, originally at St Mary Magdalen but now have moved to St James where both the acoustics and audience seating are superior.
Summer finds us focussed on lighter material from madrigals to country songs. In December carols make their appearance of course, to the joy and participation of choir and audience alike.
We rehearse at Temple Methodist Hall on Tuesday evenings and welcome new members; no audition required. Our conductor is Ed Goater, a fine tenor himself, who goads and inspires us in equal measure, able supported by Alison Pink our accompanist who has skilfully supported the choir for many years.
Check out our website for more details or come along at 7.30pm on Tuesdays to join us.
