About The Little Big Horns
The Little Big Horns are a 6 piece funky brass band. Infectious riffs, rich tunes and great solos combine in the band’s mixture of contemporary New Orleans brass, Ska and Reggae.
Up front and danceable, runs on the pumping rhythm section of drummer Mike Hurley and tuba player Tom Francombe. The band features the wonderful Dan Pogorzelski saxophone star of the Taunton Deane Big Band and Def Tone 17, often heard at the CICCIC with his own quartet. Brian Pearson on trombone and Joe Porter, trumpet, are also in Def Tone and The Big Noise street band.
Drummer Mike Hurley is a graduate of Birmingham Conservatory and a highly experienced band leader and drummer who played in the band The Destroyers and with reggae stars Susan Cadogan, Dawn Penn and Tippa Irie. Tuba player Tom Francombe was in the National Youth Orchestra and has been a featured soloist with local orchestras and wind bands. Baritone sax player Tim Hill leads street bands and creates music for outdoor theatre shows, playing around the UK and Europe.
