About the Band
Bass – Bob Atherton – After playing guitar in a couple of school bands I took up bass at age 13 and have never looked back! My roots are blues and rock. In recent years I’ve been performing and recording with Kirby Gregory, the guitarist from Stretch and Curved Air. Just pre-covid was beyond thrilled to play on a Curved Air album that also featured Stewart Copeland on drums (ex The Police).
Drums – Fraser McAllister – Accidentally took up drums after walking into a music shop to buy guitar strings and walked out with a pair of drumsticks! That was several years ago and I’ve gone on to play about every style of popular music. I’ve been performing with our Ska band “Moonshot” for over 20 years. I’ve acted as a dep-percussionist/drummer for many function and wedding bands. I also have my own sound proofed studio specialised in offering other drummers the discovery of tonal variations ( multi kit drums & symbols). I am also a drum teacher and have offered lessons for over 10 years.
Vocals/guitar and harmonica – Mike Bess – My dad bought me my first guitar at the age of 7, the instrument has grown with me ever since. I performed with several great musicians in South Africa and our band “Blues.com” was the most successful and saw me take on a greater role as lead singer & guitarist. I gave up my career as a Mechanical Engineer 4 years ago to go full time into performing as a professional musician. The path as been amazingly rewarding. I have now recorded 4 albums of mainly original songs, all with a distinct bluesy gravelly feel.
