Join us for an amazing and energetic night of Cuban Latin Fusion Jazz music with band Café Square and with percussion, drums, bass, piano and sax playing a mix of traditional and contemporary tunes you will equally enjoy listening to these amazing musicians sitting down or dancing.
“Cafe Square” a new and exciting quintet from the Southwest. Individually, the musicians have a wealth of experience which in turn has inspired them to create a fusion of various styles. The infectious rhythms of Cuba, Latin music, Funk Jazz alongside the harmonic complexity of Modern Jazz.
“The bands repertoire incorporates not only its own compositions but some of the great contemporary classics” says the band’s Saxophonist Daniel Pogorzelski, who’s straight ahead group The Daniel Pogorzelski Quartet (DPQ) regularly perform on the Jazz circuit.

Milly Riquelme
Piano, Keyboard, Vocal – Milly classical trained pianist/ singer and composer Originally from Cuba she has played and recorded with the most recognized Cuban salsa artists internationally and in London. She also collaborates with Tom Toomey, (guitarist from The Zombies) and is the leader of her own Cuban latin jazz band La Cubana.
Paul Francis
Electric_+ Upright Bass – Paul appeared with many established artists over the years Including Pat Metheny Drummer Antonio Sanchez, tenor Saxophonist Dave Ohiggins, The James Taylor Quartet, Paul Weller and Internationally renowned virtuoso Guitarists Nic Meier(Jeff Beck) & Paul Gilbert.
Daniel Pogorzelski
Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Wind Synth – Daniel is an accomplished musician. He performs regularly with his own Jazz Quartet (DPQ) and is in high demand as a “gun for hire “ (both as a sideman and Band leader) in and around the Southwest. He also runs a highly successful woodwind repair business servicing many top end clients & from this post of view truly knows the intricacies & subtleties of the instrument.
Ben Waring
Drums and Percussion – Ben has played professionally in both Europe and the Americas, working all over North and Central America as a studio session drummer, and has written radio jingles for Mexican and Canadian radio.
Ben continues to play in a variety of ensembles from Latin and Funk through to experimental Jazz. He has been teaching drums and percussion since 1995.
Jon Whitfield
Drums – Jon is a drummer and educator from Bolton, Lancashire now living in the South West.
After graduating in Jazz at Leeds College of Music Jon worked throughout Europe and the USA and has played and recorded with, amongst others, Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Peter King and Julia Fordham.
There will be plenty of room to dance and you’ll get the chance take in over 120 years of combined music experience from some the best players from the South West.
