Live Music – Remembering Windrush – Saturday 5th October 2019

J4Y0KC Empire Windrush packed with West Indian immigrants on arrival at the Port of Tilbury on the River Thames on 22 June 1948. This event is often cited as the start of the postwar immigration boom that was to change British society forever. The British Nationality Act 1948 gave British citizenship to all people living in Commonwealth countries with full rights of entry and settlement in Britain.

Remembering Windrush – All tickets £5

Doors open 7.30 pm – Concert from 8.00 pm.

State of Trust presents a ‘Remembering Windrush’ concert and celebration, with the Alan Weekes Quartet and special guests Just Stephen and Geo. Jazz, Reggae & Soul plus cool vibes and sounds.

Guitarist Alan Weekes has been an important influence on the international music scene since 1975. His recording credits include Art Blakey, Aswad, Jimmy Cliff, Ernest Ranglin, Joss Stone, Jazz Warriors and Jazz Jamaica.

Just Stephen is known for his work with Lee “Scratch” Perry and Rolling Stone Keith Richards; and rising star Geo appeared as special guest of The Teskey Brothers on their recent EU tour.
